Our History

Founded in 2020, Thessaloniki Beacon University (TBU) is a young and dynamic institution dedicated to technical education. In just five years, it has rapidly evolved into a comprehensive university, recognized for its modern approach to science, humanities, and the arts.

Located in the historic city of Thessaloniki, TBU stands at the crossroads of tradition and innovation. Our name, "Beacon," reflects our commitment to being a guiding light of knowledge in the region.

Today, TBU hosts over 12,000 students from more than 80 countries, fostering a vibrant, multicultural environment that prepares students for global citizenship.

Key Milestones

  • 2020 Established as Thessaloniki Technical Institute.
  • 2022 Expanded to include Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • 2023 Achieved full University status and rebranded as TBU.
  • 2024 Launched the Center for AI and Robotics.
